Grab a Bowl of Heaven soon in Mountain View

Uploaded: Nov 21, 2014
Bowl of Heaven, a Southern California-based acai bowl chain, is opening its first Northern California location at Grant Park Plaza in Mountain View.

Bowl of Heaven is a family-owned operation focused on health and nutrition. They serve up acai bowls (for those who don't know or haven't had one, this antioxidant-rich superfruit is typically frozen and then blended with other fruits or healthy add-ins to create a smoothie-like base that can be complemented with other toppings, like fruit, coconut or nuts) as well as smoothies and fresh-squeezed juices.

The "North Shore Original" bowl, for example, comes with a base of blended acai, strawberries, apple juice, bananas and Bowl of Heaven's proprietary "Maq7" superfruit juice (a mix of seven superfruits). The bowl is topped with organic hemp and flax seed, granola and banana. Others are blended with kale, homemade coconut milk, ginger, peanut butter. (Check out the menu here.)

Dan McCormick opened the first Bowl of Heaven in Rancho Santa Margarita four years ago, inspired by trips to visit three of his daughters attending college in Oahu, Hawaii, during which he and his wife would often eat acai bowls. McCormick teamed up with his son-in-law, Brandon Beazer, to start the company. McCormick, who has long worked in anti-aging and nutrition, brings a love for and experience in health.

In his words: "Our mission is to delight and nourish and satisfy our customers and bring superfruits from around the world that will allow them to feel fabulous."

The father/son-in-law have since opened four additional Bowls of Heaven and have many more on the way, including this franchisee in Mountain View as well as Fremont and Las Vegas.

McCormick said he's aiming to have the 1040 Grant Road location in Mountain View open around Jan. 1. As far as I know, it will be the first dedicated acai bowl shop in Mountain View. (And is close on the heels of Palo Alto's first, Bare Bowls, which opened last week.)
