The Chez Franc kitchen is headed by Dan Sung, a longtime sous chef at Michelin-starred The Village Pub in Woodside.
Construction is currently underway at the restaurant, but owner Jacquetta Lannan, a former attorney and culinary school graduate, just didn't want to wait any longer to get her gourmet dogs out there.
Unfortunately, however, she's still facing some budget challenges, and has launched a Kickstarter campaign to hopefully get the green she needs to purchase a new meat chopper, sausage stuffer and smoker. These very necessary sausage-making items cost a cool $37,000.
If you're unfamiliar with Kickstarter, Lannan has a certain amount of time to raise her funding goal; if she doesn't reach it, she loses any donations made. She has until Sept. 2 and with 26 days to go, has raised $5,500 from 36 backers.
Depending on how much they give, backers get fun perks from a limited edition Chez Franc kitchen towel or postcard ($20 donation) to a multicourse dinner for you and five friends at the restaurant ($500 or more). Feeling generous (and hungry)? Pledge $10,000 or more and you will be dubbed the "queen or king of Chez Franc" and can eat as much as you want at the restaurant for the first six months it's opened.
