Francesca's in MV sold, remodeled, renamed

Uploaded: Jun 10, 2014
Francesca's Sports Bar at 2135 Old Middlefield Way in Mountain View is no more.

Well, at least as patrons knew it. Under new ownership (a man named Herb Lavender, Jr.), the bar has been remodeled and redubbed O'Malley's Sports Pub, according to a message posted on the Francesca's website a few weeks ago.

Here's the full message:

"It is with a very sad heart that we are announcing Francesca's Sports Bar has been sold. Effective immediately, the new name is now O'Malley's Sports Pub. A few changes will be made but most of the faces will stay the same. Herb is the new owner and we hope you will give him a Francesca's style friendly welcome and show him all the love and support you have shown us over the years.
We have had such a great time with all of you, so many memories!! Thank you...
We actually have a whole lot more to say... but where do we start? If only these walls could talk (or maybe it's better they can't).
Give O'Malleys Sports Pub A LIKE On Facebook..
Cheers!"

O'Malleys had its official ribbon-cutting ceremony with the city on May 27 and has been serving up the same Irish pub grub and craft beers along with karaoke, flip cup and beer pong tournaments and live music.
Democracy.
What is it worth to you?

I believe that is Old Middlefield Way.

Will they still have their pool table?

Went from the best tap list in MV to useless overnight. Oh well, there's still the Rose and Crown.

O'Malley's has worked hard to maintain the attitude that patrons have come to appreciate. There are now 3 pool tables and remodeled restrooms. High-quality materials and craftsmanship went into the remodel. The new floor is spectacular! The patio is beautiful. The beer selection is still huge with different specialty beers being rotated through as they are available. The bar operation has not changed. It is a pleasure to go somewhere friendly, safe, clean and fun. The prices are also reasonable!

Some of the high tech companies have discovered it and groups of happy folks enjoy the place most late afternoons. The restaurant is now open for lunch and dinner Monday thru Saturday. Herb is a great guy and cares that he is doing an excellent job with the remodeling. It will be a pleasure to see new faces in such a well-established location.

is that the same Herb Lavender related to the trucking business? I knew Herb Sr and he was a great guy...

it was a sad series of events that have led to the demise of the old bar. considering how long it was in the same family.

Hello, my name is Herb Lavender Jr and I am the proud new owner of O'Malley's Sports Pub in Mountain View Ca. It was not in my interested to bring in a new staff as the existing one was/is completely awesome. We have expanded our beer selection and kept the same low pricing. To be honest, I did this because I don't care about the money at this point in my life. I did it because I wanted to have something to be proud of, to make it a comfortable, safe happy environment, all while affordable and tons of fun.

The kitchen is up and running. We will be able to have alcohol on the back patio in a couple months. The ABC is in the approval process

Someone in a previous posting asked if I am the same Herb Lavender "the Trucker". The answer is yes, I've been in trucking all of my life. I did however spend 10 years in the Marines as a paratrooper. If you go into the men's restroom, you will see my Cammy top that I work in Afghanistan and Somalia while serving.

Lastly, I want to thank all of the nice people that have patted me on the back and said "great job" on the remodel. It means a lot to me because for and weeks and weeks I worked 14 hour days trying to get it ready for you.

God bless you all and I hope to see you soon!!

Herb Lavender Jr. :)

Great intro Herb ... sounds like a great place. If you have pool tables I want to get my friendsin there to play pool sometime. But then, who is O'Malley? ;-)

O\'Malley is a great buddy I served with in the Marines.
I was a paratrooper in the marines for about 10 years.
If you get a chance to drop in, when you go to the mens restroom, on the wall you will see a set of camouflage utilities in a frame. Those were the actual camouflage utilities I wore in Mogadishu Somalia. I have many other items from Afghanistan and things of that nature, but I deemed it as inappropriate. So, the cammy top is good for now. :)
