a fast casual place like steam could be calleda ''fast restaurant''. its as real restaurant sped up. walk by the steam place ,the people look not completely relaxed like a real restaurant ,but its as if theres a pretension that it is a ''real restaurant''. like stuck in between the settled atmosphere of a restaurant with a slight ''get in and get out'' stance of the people at tables as if its a fast food place. looks like a restaurant but has overtones of a fast food place. the ''fast restaurant'' put a video of a reastaurant and speed it up a little. call it ''fast casual''. or fast restaurant. pretensions of a restaraunt but a ''get in and get out'' body language . steam is good example of the new type restaurant. ''fast fooled '' you into thinking its not ''fast food''.its the new ''fast casual''.

In this case, there is no restaurant called Steam. What Elena did was to use a rather common colloquial expression "full steam ahead" which refers to the steam boilers of yesteryear that propelled ships, locomotives, etc. "Full steam ahead" means "proceed forward at a rapid pace," it does not refer to the future opening of a restaurant called Steam.

In this blog entry, Elena is referring to the food truck gathering that will be coming to Menlo Park next Wednesday evening. Food trucks do not offer interior seated dining; there is no "get in and get out" mentality in the food truck paradigm.

In any case, there are plenty of restaurants all over the world that offer quick bites: tapas in Spain, taquerias in Mexico, noodle shops all over Southeast Asia, sandwich shops, burger stands, pizzerias, etc. There is nothing new about a quick bite type of restaurant.

I have traveled to places in the world, look forward to traveling more. Fast food is a common thing through out the world, little sushi place in Japan, street carts, food trucks, burger bars, fish and chip shops, etc. Yes this country is full of big name fast food chains, but we also small fast food places also.

The world will always be on the move, people will always be in hurry, people will always want to grab a quick bite.

Isn't faaast referring to Steam in downtown Palo Alto, in addition to picking up the "full steam ahead" saying and um, steaming ahead w/it?

As for this being on Calif Ave - Palo Alto has really blown it w/re to food trucks.
