Local food pantries, meals for Thanksgiving

Here's a quick list (by no means complete) of local food pantries, soup kitchens, etc.:

Food Closet at the InnVision Opportunity Center: Distribution of canned goods, fresh produce, dairy products and bread to very low-income residents of Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park. 425 Hamilton Ave. Palo Alto. 650-325-3663. Open Mon. and Fri.: 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 10 a.m.?2:30 p.m.

Breaking Bread Hot Meals: Free hot meals provided daily at churches in Palo Alto & Menlo Park. On Thanksgiving, a hot meal will be available to the public 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Palo Alto (425 Hamilton Ave.) 650-853-8672; www.innvision.org

Community Service Agency of Mountain View and Los Altos: Food and Nutrition Center is open Thursday 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m. The agency also has a senior lunch and nutrition program for anyone over the age of 60. 204 Stierlin Road, Mountain View; 650-968-0836. www.csacares.org

St. Anthony's Padua Dining Room Annual Thanksgiving Dinner: Thanksgiving dinner will be served at St. Anthony's in Menlo Park on Thursday, Nov. 28, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Bags of canned foods, fresh fruit, vegetables and bread will also be distributed. 3500 Middlefield Road Menlo Park; 650-365-9664. www.paduadiningroom.com

Ecumenical Hunger Program in East Palo Alto has various food programs: www.ehpcares.org

And speaking of, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties need more turkeys to supply local pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. Read more info here.

In case the PA Weekly and (Menlo) Almanac don't write an article this year (doesn't appear they did last year - 2014), I thought it might be useful to update some of the info in this article. If you can add any info please do. And please remember that these groups are always looking for extra volunteers to help feed the hungry on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
