Diane Marie Welles, 84, of Gilroy, California, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 1, 1939, in South Gate, California, to the late Verne Christensen and Golden Hodges.
Diane graduated from California High School in Whittier. The same year in 1957, she was a princess on the Whittier Rose Parade float. She also graduated from the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She worked a variety of jobs over the years including many years at the Opera Co in San Francisco and Mills Florist in Palo Alto where she met many creative and interesting people. She was passionate about helping others, especially during her many years researching genealogy. She loved books, collecting and reading everything she could, writing, and spending time with her family.
Diane is survived by her five children, Bryant Davis, Mark Davis, Greg Davis, Karen Davis, and Paul Welles; her three grandchildren, Evan, Chandler and Zachariah; her great-grandchild, Carter. She is also survived by many nieces, cousins, daughter-in-laws, and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her brother Dale Christensen, who passed away in 2017; and her parents, Verne Christensen and Golden Hodges and step-father Arthur Hodges.
Diane will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and companion. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, kindness, generosity, wisdom, and grace.
