David William Fuller of Seattle died Sept. 10 at his home. He was 75. Fuller was an Assistant Vice President and Editor of The Costco Connection, Costco’s member publication, from 1989 to 2013.
A former Palo Alto resident, he attended Gunn High School and Foothill College before touring the world as a student at Chapman College’s World Campus Afloat and visiting 35 countries, feeding a lifelong love of history and travel. He was a reporter and copy editor at the Palo Alto Times.
At Costco he oversaw the magazine’s growth into an international network of five print magazines, their online versions, a series of 10 annual ”The Costco Way” cookbooks and an international photo contest for Costco members. He continued his exploration of the genealogy and history of his family and helped others research their family histories, writing and self-publishing two books, “All the Fullers,” and “Smoother Pebbles,” a collection of his favorite quotations. He found some of his greatest joys witnessing his offspring and their offspring living their lives to the fullest. Fuller is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carlene Canton, their daughters Cameron Fuller and Courtney Fuller and their families; his sister Mary Fuller Heminger and her husband David Heminger of Fremont, CA, and cousin Clorinda Hite of Santa Clara, CA.
