Atherton tops most expensive real estate list

Menlo Park, Portola Valley also make priciest ZIP codes list

For the third year in a row, Atherton has landed at the top of a list for most expensive residential real estate in the country, according to real estate website PropertyShark.

Atherton topped the list of the 100 priciest ZIP codes, with a median home sale price of $7.05 million in 2019. The town's median home sale price increased 5% from $6.7 million in 2018, according to PropertyShark, which released its list on Nov. 18. This is the first year in which a ZIP code's median sale price exceeded $7 million.

The Bay Area is still the most expensive region in the country for housing, with 55 ZIP codes on the list.

San Francisco's housing costs is the highest in the country, with 13 ZIP codes on the PropertyShark list, according to the website.
