Deadly triple shooting in East Palo Alto Saturday

One man dead, two women injured

A man who was killed in a triple shooting in East Palo Alto has been identified as Mychael Edward Tillman, 31, of Hayward, San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault said.

Tillman and two women were shot on Saturday night, July 26, East Palo Alto police said. Police originally said in a press release that the victim was from Fremont.

Police officers and members of the San Mateo County Gang Task Force responded to the city's Shotspotter noise-detection system and reports of gunfire at about 11:51 p.m. Officers found three people suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the 1400 block of Kavanaugh Drive in East Palo Alto.

Two women – ages 27 and 34 and both residents of East Palo Alto -- were transported to a local hospital where they remain in stable condition, according to a police statement.

Tillman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The East Palo Alto Police Department is actively investigating this case and is in need of witnesses, according to the department's press release.

"We strongly encourage any witnesses or people who know something about this crime to notify us," department officials state.
