Opening alert: Minamoto Kitchoan at Stanford Shopping Center

Uploaded: Jan 9, 2017

An outpost of Minamoto Kitchoan, an international Japanese dessert chain, is now open at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto.

Also called K. Minamoto, the new shop sells "wagashi," or traditional Japanese confections often served with tea. Glass cases are filled with everything from mochi, waffle cookies, sponge cake and savory rice crackers to "tsuya," a sweet sandwich made of two mini pancakes with sweet red bean paste in the middle. The Stanford store also sells loose-leaf teas.

K. Minamoto has locations in Japan, Singapore, London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose.

The Stanford outpost opened in late December. It is located in a new section on the north side of the mall near other new food options, including True Food Kitchen, Tender Greens, Go Fish Poke Bar and Terrain Cafe. View a mall map here.
